Elpida Pavi, born in Athens, Greece, studied Dentistry at the University of Athens. She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Economics, University of York, England, a Master of Public Health and a PhD both pursued at the University of Glasgow, Scotland. Her PhD concerned social inequalities in health and health care within the wider fields of Epidemiology and Health Services Research. She has worked at the University of Glasgow and the University of Dundee in Scotland, and, in Greece, at the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine, the Hellenic Ministry of Health, and, from 2003, at the National School of Public Health until 2019 when the School was merged with the University of West Attica as the Department of Public Health Policy. She has been teaching, carrying out research and has published in the fields of social inequalities and health economics. Currently, she holds the post of Professor in health economics with emphasis on social inequalities in public health and is the Dean of the School of Public Health, University of West Attica.
