Yannis Manios, MMedSci, MPhil, PhD, is Professor at the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, School of Health Sciences & Education, Harokopio University, Athens, Greece.
Postgraduate studies in Human Nutrition and Preventive Medicine, primarily focused on children’s optimum nourishment, growth and development and the prevention of obesity and cardiometabolic risk factors from early childhood. Over the last 20 years research interests have been expanded to include nutritional assessment of large national and multinational cohorts, development and implementation of community and web-based interventions as well as RCTs aiming to promote optimum nourishment and prevention of chronic diseases in all life stages.
Actively involved as a Principal Investigator in many national and European research programmes and coordinator of three European “intersectoral primary care programmes actively involving, schools, community and families”. Member of Scientific Groups, such as “ILSI Europe (Metabolic Imprinting Expert Group)” and the “National Committee for Public Health”.
Authored/coauthored more than 600 papers published in international scientific journals with more than 30,000 citations. He has received 11 awards for his scientific work by national and international organizations. Editor and author of seven academic manuscripts and book chapters, reviewer for the European Commission, international research organizations and more than 20 international scientific journals.
